Categories - Family Based or Employment Based Family Based : Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens - includes spouses, children and parents, and certain widows and their children - NO NUMERICAL LIMIT Family sponsored - 4 Preference Categories First preference: unmarried sons and daughters of LPR's Second preference: Third preference: Married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens Fourth preference: Brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens
Employment Based: EB-1: Priority Workers Aliens with "extraordinary ability" in the sciences, arts, education business and athletics; or "outstanding" professors and researchers; or executives and managers of multinational corporations who meet specific requirements
EB-2: Members of the professions holding advanced degrees and persons with exceptional ability in sciences, arts & business EB-3: Skilled Workers - Entry level professionals & unskilled workers EB-4: Special Immigrants - religious workers, certain medical doctors & other specific categories EB-5: "Employment creation" immigrants (investors)
